KBS® Mortar

Our mortar for fire stopping

Non-shrinking mortar with swelling effect for the production of crack-free and flue gas-tight cable and mixed penetration seals. Available in 2 colors: red for identification as fire protection mortar and in neutral grey.

Technical features / advantages

  • Cement-based lightweight mortar
  • High yield: 1 kg dry mortar yields approx. 1.5 liters volume
  • Low density of 600 g/l
  • Swelling effect during drying
  • Up to 7 % increase in volume after curing
  • Flue gas-tight sealing of cable penetrations
  • No additional use of joint sealant necessary
  • Simple drilling through the lightweight mortar for retrofitting of cables
  • Thixotropic - can be built up in openings with minimal formwork assistance
  • Good stability when used in wall penetrations
  • Can be applied with the aid of a mortar pump or by hand

Area of application

  • For floor and wall fire stopping of electrical cables, non-combustible pipes, combustible pipes in combination with KBS® Pipe Seal fire protection collars as well as their combinations in one penetration seal.

Approvals and test certificates

  • Ü mark (building material approval by the German Institute for Building Technology - DIBt)
  • Classified as mixed penetration seal according to EN13501-2
  • Approved as cable penetration seal in Germany (abG): Z-19.15-256
  • Approved as cable penetration seal in Switzerland (VKF fire protection application)
  • UL listed
  • Tested according to British Standard (BS476) as cable penetration seal
