Fire stopping of cable penetrations

Avoid cable fires and stop them safely!

KBS® offers various solutions to effectively protect cable penetrations from the passage of flames and smoke.

In most cases, the task is to seal off complex cable systems and cables on support constructions. However, individual cables and cable bundles as well as electrical installation pipes can also be routed through walls and floors of fire compartments. These can be effectively protected against the passage of flames and smoke gases by using  KBS® Foamcoat HS or KBS® FR Caulking for fire stopping.

Fire Stop systems with mineral wool panels

For exterior applications as well as interiors (also with high humidity)

The systems consist of mineral fiber boards, ablative fire protection coating and joint sealant. They can be applied as single-panel penetration seal (fire resistance duration up to EI60) and double-panel fire stop (up to EI120). Tested to DIN 4102-9, European standard EN 1366-3 and approved to FM 4990.

The KBS® mixed penetrations seal systems KBS® Kombischott can also be used for the fire stopping of cables and cable support constructions.

For interior application in dry rooms

The systems consist of mineral fiber boards, intumescent coating and joint sealant. They can be applied as single-panel penetration seal (fire resistance duration up to EI60) and double-panel fire stop (up to EI120). Tested to DIN 4102-9 and European standard EN 1366-3.

The KBS® mixed penetrations seal systems KBS® Kombischott can also be used for the fire stopping of cables and cable support constructions.

Fire protection bags

KBS® Sealbags are mainly used for the flexible sealing of cable penetrations in walls and floors when cables have to be replaced or retrofitted frequently.

KBS® Sealbags are tested according to DIN 4102-9, European standard EN 1366-3. They are approved under FM 4990 and listed by UL.

Fire protection mortar

KBS® Mortar is a fire protection mortar that swells after processing. It reliably seals the gaps around the cables and prevents cracks from forming when cured. This results in a flame- and smoke gas-tight sealing with a high yield.

KBS® Mortar is tested for use in cable penetration seals according to DIN 4102-9, BS 476 Part 20 and also according to UL 1479. KBS® Mortar is tested according to EN 1366-3 as mixed penetration seal.

KBS® Mortar is available in 2 colors: red for identification as fire protection mortar or in neutral grey.
